Don’t settle for the wilderness

Let go and let God!

First and foremost, we were created to win in love and relationships. Believe it! Often, we trust God in every area of our lives—our careers, our health, and our dreams—but when it comes to relationships, we hesitate. We often want to control love ourselves instead of surrendering it to God.

Why do we think romantic relationships are too small for God? Do we believe we know better than our Creator who we should fall in love with? Are we rushing because society says we should be married by now, so we compromise? Like the Israelites, have we forgotten how God has always provided for us, do we not trust that He will lead us to the right person in His perfect time?

If these questions stir your heart, keep reading. This blog is for you. Like many, I’ve had my share of ups and downs in relationships. I wandered in the wilderness of dating until I realized I couldn’t do it alone, and I stopped relying on my own understanding.

Don’t Settle for Less in Your Relationships

In relationships, we often ignore red flags because of doubts, fear, low self-esteem, or societal pressure. We allow these things to cloud our judgment when choosing who we let into our lives. It’s like the Israelites when they scouted the Promised Land—except for Caleb, everyone was afraid of the giants they saw there. (Numbers 13:27-28)

The giants in the dating world are the lies we believe: “There are no loyal men,” “You’re too old,” “You’re not good enough.” The list goes on. And, because of this, we compromise and settle for less. Just like the Israelites who doubted God’s provision, we forget that the same God who parted the Red Sea and provided for them is the same one who has already prepared the right partner for us.

Don’t Be Like the Israelites

The Israelites’ lack of trust in God resulted in 40 years of wandering in the wilderness (Numbers 13:23-24). Don’t let that be your story. Be like Caleb—choose to believe that God will bring the right person into your life at the right time.

“Let’s go at once to take the land,” Caleb said. “We can certainly conquer it!” (Numbers 13:30)

Silence the doubts. Trust that when you seek God first, He will direct your steps. The right person will meet you on your path of purpose and obedience. Don’t settle for less—choose paradise.

Even if you feel like you’re already in the wilderness, know that God is a God of restoration. He’s with you, and He will lead you out of it. The question is: do you desire to leave the wilderness behind?
